ILT operates three hotels in Invercargill: Ascot Park Hotel, The Langlands, and the Kelvin Hotel. This role may be based at any of these hotels.
The Role
As Night Manager, you are the senior operational leader of the hotel during overnight trading hours. You are responsible for overseeing hotel operations, ensuring compliance, supervising staff, and maintaining financial and service standards in the absence of the General Manager and Duty Manager.
This role carries managerial responsibility for overnight hotel operations and decision-making authority to ensure business continuity, guest satisfaction, and operational compliance.
Location: Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand
Permanent, Full-Time Position Minimum 30 hours per week (rostered 7 days including weekends and public holidays)
Pay rate: $28.18 – $33.56 per hour (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all hotel operations during overnight shifts
Act as Manager on Duty when senior management has signed off
Supervise and support overnight team members including Night Porter
Ensure compliance with health & safety, fire safety, sustainability and security protocols
Complete end-of-day financial audits, reconciliation of accounts, and banking
Review and resolve accounting discrepancies and reporting issues
Maintain accurate operational and financial records
Oversee late-night guest services including check-ins, departures, and room service
Monitor hotel security systems and respond to incidents as required
Implement management directives and uphold company policies
Assist in training and mentoring team members to maintain service standards
Prepare operational reports for senior management review
Ensure brand standards and presentation are maintained at all times
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
At least 3 years’ relevant experience in hotel or hospitality operations, including supervisory or duty management responsibilities
Proven experience overseeing hotel operations or acting in a management capacity
Strong financial reconciliation and auditing capability
Experience using Opera or similar hotel property management systems
Strong leadership and team supervision skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong numeracy and problem-solving ability
The ability to work independently and make operational decisions
A professional presentation and guest-focused approach
