Right in the heart of Invercargill, Speight’s Ale House is all about great Southern hospitality, hearty food, a good pint and a warm welcome. We’re a busy restaurant and bar with plenty going on. From relaxed lunches and busy dinner services to live music and late nights, no two shifts are quite the same. We’re looking for a hands-on hospitality leader to join our crew as Assistant Manager and help keep the good times and great service rolling.
At the Speight’s Ale House, genuine hospitality is at the heart of what we do. It’s about looking after our locals, having a yarn with our regulars, welcoming new faces and making sure everyone who walks through the door has a great experience.
As Assistant Manager, you’ll be right amongst it, working alongside the management team to keep things running smoothly, leading the crew through busy services and setting the tone for friendly, down-to-earth service. You’ll be someone the team can rely on, whether it’s a packed dinner service, a busy night at the bar or live music keeping the place going later into the evening.
What you’ll bring:
- A hands-on approach to the day-to-day running of the restaurant and bar
- The ability to lead, support and motivate a great front-of-house team
- A passion for making sure every guest gets a proper Southern welcome
- A knack for building genuine relationships with our locals and regulars
- Confidence helping with training, rostering and team development
- The energy to shift gears from dinner service into a lively bar atmosphere, with live music keeping things going into the night
- High service standards, even when things get busy
- Confidence with opening, closing and cash-handling procedures
- A positive attitude that helps make this a great place to work
- A current managers certificate.
About you:
You’ll be a hands-on people person who enjoys a busy service, backs the team and knows how to keep things running smoothly when the pace picks up.
You’ll ideally have experience in a hospitality supervisory or management role, strong communication skills, plenty of initiative and a cool head under pressure. You’ll also be comfortable with weekend and later shifts when live music kicks in and the bar gets lively.
